So you’re writing blogs and articles, sending out emails, even writing the occasional letter, but for some reason you’re still not getting all the leads and appointments you’d like. When you get a referral, great, but they don’t come in every day of the week. What can you do to get more appointments in the diary?
First of all, stop and take a breath.
There are basically two stages to marketing and you need to be doing both to make sure you’re getting the results you want.
Stage one is to make sure you’ve got a list of people who have ideally told you they’d like a conversation. The issue with things like blogs is that you have no idea who has read it and you have no way of knowing who is interested.
Instead think about building a database from, say, LinkedIn and then reach out to people inviting them to have a conversation.
Stage two is making sure you follow up with people and have the conversation. So if you send out a letter, make sure you follow up afterwards.
Follow these two stages – building a database and inviting people to have a conversation and then following up when they say yes – and you won’t go far wrong with your marketing.
